Your complimentary first visit to either our Ogden or North Ogden office is an exciting time for both parties. This will serve as a chance for us to get to know one another, familiarizing you with the doctor, team and treatments that we offer. Your first visit will last approximately one hour, so please plan on that in advance. This will ensure that we have plenty of time to ask and answer questions. During your consultation, we will:

  • Review your dental and medical history forms
  • Provide a complete oral exam to determine whether treatment is necessary. We may also take a complimentary X-ray.
  • Help you create a customized treatment plan
  • Take the time necessary to teach and explain the details of your treatment options
  • Give you an estimated treatment time
  • Discuss all financial information, insurance benefits, and payment plans

After your exam with Dr. Brett D. Cox and Dr. Kirk H. Allred, there’s a chance that no orthodontic treatment will be necessary. If this is not the case, the doctor would then begin a conversation with you about suggested treatment options, whether treatment begins now, or at a later date. In some cases, we advise patients to begin treatment at a later date to keep your treatment as brief as possible. If this is the case, we will likely recommend that you come back for periodic check-ups until that time.

During your initial visit, we really strive to have an open discussion in which patients and their loved ones ask questions about the process. We never want a patient to leave our office with unanswered questions!

What happens after the first consultation visit?

You’re one step closer to achieving the smile you’ve always wanted! Your next visit will be to take records of your teeth. This includes X-rays, study models, photos, and additional impressions of your teeth for indirect bonds. The process of indirect bonding is done in our office to makes sure we have precise placement of your brackets. We will also review your payment arrangements.

Appointment Scheduling

Visiting the orthodontist about every four to eight weeks is an important part of your orthodontic treatment. Our practice will work with you to make sure that your appointments are as convenient as possible. When scheduling appointments, please let us know what days, times, and which office location works best for you.

Dental Visits

It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleaning and routine dental check-ups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care. Our goal is to give you the healthy, straight, beautiful smile you’ve always wanted.
